BACKGROUND: Angama Mara is a new owner-run luxury game lodge located in Kenya, high above Africa’s Great Rift Valley overlooking the Maasai Mara; Angama is the Swahili word for “suspended in mid-air”. Using multiple points of inspiration to meticulously develop Angama's wordmark; The New Black referenced the famous Maasai warrior stance, graceful giraffe in the Mara landscape, typographic style of early 20th century cartography and the classic typography of Fritz Helmute Ehmcke.
